Crowd revs up for Miss V8 Supercar contest

A REVVED-UP crowd showed their appreciation as the first round of Miss V8 Supercar hopefuls strutted along the runway at Tatts Hotel.

Competition coordinator Amanda Finlayson said the nine women who competed in Friday night's heat looked "amazing".

"It was actually really good," Mrs Finlayson said.

"Everyone was cheering for everyone, which doesn't always happen."

Contestants paraded in sportswear and swimwear before a pub packed full of eager patrons.

"They were all confident and the effort they put in was great.

"All of them were excited that there was a chance for them to represent Toowoomba at the Gold Coast 600."

She said the four judges had a difficult time selecting four women to go through to the Toowoomba final, which will be held on September 13.

Contestants Teanna Born, Shay Corbett, Vanessa Carr and Tamika Freeman were selected as finalists.

"It was a hard heat.

"I didn't know who would make it."

Mrs Finlayson said she already had 12 contestants confirmed for next Friday's second heat and other 13 contestants for the third heat on September 6.

"It is probably our biggest one yet.

"A lot of them do it for a confidence boost for themselves."

The winner of the September 13 final will have the opportunity to go to the Gold Coast to compete for the overall Miss V8 Supercar title.

Prizes for the winner are valued up to $20,000.
