Thieves target businesses

SIX Warwick business owners went to open their doors for morning trade yesterday only to discover their livelihoods had been targeted by burglars.

A Warwick Police spokesman said the opportunistic thieves had attempted entry into four Westside Shopping Centre businesses, one veterinary clinic and had successfully entered a Wood Street business.

“Police believe there could be a possible link between the break-ins,” the spokesman said.

“Some time on Monday night unknown offenders have unlawfully entered a windscreen repair business at Wood Street. Once inside they’ve ransacked the office and workshop area and damaged a client’s car but no property was taken.

“Unknown offenders have also attempted to break into a number of Westside businesses.

“Damage was caused to the businesses but entry was not gained and nothing was stolen.”

The spokesman said a window had been forced at the vet surgery “but it appeared nothing had been taken”.

“Investigations are continuing and if anyone has information please contact us.”

In other criminal activity news in the Rose City, a teen was arrested and charged for breaking into two cars at Cinema Heights during Monday night.

“A 16-year-old male was charged yesterday afternoon with unlawfully gaining entry to two vehicles,” the spokesman said.

If you have information on these offences or any other local crime activity contact the Warwick Police on 4660 4444 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
