Cold snap starts to bite across Darling Downs
FREEZING temperatures were recorded across the Darling Downs yesterday and they look set to remain for the rest of the week.
Cool southerly winds and clear skies will bring frosts and low overnight temperatures until Saturday.
This morning the minimum temperature dropped to 3.2 degrees and it felt like -0.4 degrees.
Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Peter Crooks said the elderly and the young were most at risk groups during cold periods.
He said it was vital those groups kept warm during the current cold snap.
"It's important that people look out for their neighbours, particularly the elderly," he said.
"If they have a fall and spend the night on the cold floor, it could be dangerous."
Yesterday, the temperatures dropped to 1.9 degrees.
