IT IS the end of an era for car collector Roy Gorring.

The owner of the Queensland Auto Museum at Hampton auctioned off his collection of 140 classic cars on Saturday

He said while he had been collecting cars for many years, it was time to move on to other things.

"I've got special cars and average cars, but they're all my babies," he said.

His only wish was for whoever bought his cars to enjoy them as much as he did.

Cars up for auction included Joh Bjelke-Petersen's Jag, a FJ Holden, a Holden 48-215 and a Brock Commodore VC.

Other items also included petrol bowsers, old tractors and a caravan.
