Children assaulted in Kingscliff break-ins
POLICE are treating three Kingscliff break-and-enters as linked, after two children were assaulted on Tuesday night.
About 11.30pm Tuesday, a male intruder was disturbed at a home in Lorien Way, Kingscliff.
He fled the premises and no property was taken. No assault was reported in relation to this incident.
About an hour later, police received a report about an intruder at a unit in nearby Pearl St.
At this location, police were told a man assaulted a 15-year-old boy.
In a third incident, also on Pearl St, a male intruder was disturbed inside a home about 2am.
At this location, a man allegedly indecently assaulted a 12-year-old girl.
Tweed-Byron Local Area Command officers established a crime scene at the three homes, which have been examined by forensic investigators.
Police also searched the surrounding area, but did not find anyone matching the descriptions given to police.
Police wish to speak with a man who they believe could help with their inquiries.
It's believed the man was aged between 25 and 35, between 180 and 185cm tall, with short dark hair and dark bushy eyebrows.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant with their home security but keeping doors and windows locked and secured.
They have also encouraged members of the community to phone triple zero if they see anyone acting suspiciously in their street.
