Chef praises our delicious produce
CELEBRITY chef Matt Golinski is singing the praises of Granite Belt producers, who provided him with plenty of quality produce for the Banquet on the Belt dinner on Saturday night.
"I was really impressed," Mr Golinski said.
"The quality of the produce was so good and it was great to meet the makers who grew it all."
The three-course menu featured everything from local peaches, broad beans and broccolini to strawberries and Mallow lamb.
Mr Golinski said the producers were incredibly generous.
"We managed to use everything we were given though," he said.
"It was so fresh and lovely."
Helping Mr Golinski feed the hungry guests were a group of high school hospitality students.
"The kids were all really enthusiastic and keen to work and learn, which is great," Mr Golinski said.
Stanthorpe Agricultural Society vice-president and one of the organisers of the event Maria Heaven said it could not have gone better.
"It was a fabulous night and the food was amazing," she said.
"It is amazing when you think that all the food used was grown in our backyards."
Mrs Heaven said the event, which was aimed at raising money for the helloworld Showgirls, served its purpose well.
"It was a great collaborative effort of all the girls," she said.
