Charges for Ruby's theft
A WARWICK man has been charged over an alleged dognapping offence that occurred last month.
The 43-year-old man is alleged to have broken into the Stanthorpe Pound, seizing beloved family dog Ruby.
The dog is said to have escaped from the Howard family's Pavilion St home on April 14, before ending up in the pound and then subsequently being stolen.
Despite the arrest, the dog has yet to be recovered.
"A lot of hours went into that,” Stanthorpe Senior Sergeant Gerard Brady said.
"On May 14 police executed a search warrant at a Coorey Pl address in Warwick. Police seized a number of items of clothing as evidence.
"As result a 43-year-old man from Warwick was charged with enter a premises to commit an indictable offence and enter premises with intent.
"Unfortunately the dog was not located, which was what we were looking for. Inquiries are continuing to hopefully locate it.
"Police will be exploring the prospect the dog is still in town. If anyone has any sightings please let us know.”
The man will front court on June 19 in Stanthorpe.
