Chamber rings in a new year as leadership changes
A NEW era of business chamber executives has stepped up.
The Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce held its annual general meeting at O'Mara's Hotel on Friday morning.
Outgoing president John Bylicki, who had been in the role since 2014, gave an emotional address to a packed room. Mr Bylicki had opted not to stand for the top spot again.
He discussed some of the chamber's big wins in the past 12 months, from successful involvement with Snowflakes in Stanthorpe to a well-received Christmas promotion last December.
He said they had also worked to be more strongly engaged with government bodies in a bid to campaign for the Granite Belt.
The chamber's new president, Ian Henderson, said he was looking forward to connecting with four key areas of the region: retail, agriculture, tourism and manufacturing.
Mr Henderson said the chamber would look to retain its strong links with main street businesses while better engaging with other facets of the region's business community.
The new board also includes Scott Bradburn, Tim Carnell, Josh Cavallaro, Amanda Harrold, Bill James, Samantha Wantling, Mick Spiller, Danny Tjan and Nathan Day.
