Fuel leak diverts CBD traffic

A SECTION of the east-bound lane on Fitzroy St was closed for about 40 minutes on Saturday while emergency crews contained a petrol spill.

A Ford car, which was parked between Palmerin and Albion Sts, had leaked fuel from its tank. A Queensland Fire and Rescue crew and Warwick police attended the scene while it was made safe.

Foam and gravel were used to remove the fuel puddle.

The remaining petrol was siphoned from the car before it was towed. The lane re-opened about 12.25pm.
