CBD set to light up for Christmas
PREPARATIONS are under way for the first Light Up Stanthorpe market night to be held on Friday, November 29.
The markets are being held to celebrate the new council funding of Christmas decorations for the Piazza.
Stanthorpe Chamber of Commerce Christmas sub-committee chair Lucille Jensen said there would be plenty to see and do at the markets.
"There will be late night shopping until 8pm, free gift wrapping, a snow machine and buskers," she said.
The markets will have something for everyone with a range of community groups and organisations coming together to deliver a real variety for the night.
Among the stalls there will be a sausage sizzle, confectionary, fairy floss, drinks and chips and paper lanterns.
Santa will make an appearance in the Piazza at 6.30pm, followed by the lighting of the town's new Christmas tree at 7pm.
The main street will also feature a selection of 30 decorated Christmas trees on display as part of the decorated Christmas tree competition.
Outgoing ArtWorks co-ordinator Christine Sayer said the centre would be used as a distribution and collection hub for the trees.
"It's a very inclusive project - open to everyone," Ms Sayer said.
Those still decorating trees for the competition have until Monday to drop their trees at ArtWorks on Davadi.
For more information on the markets, phone Lucille Jensen on 4681 0909.
