Case of the Blues
IT WAS a nail-biting match between the Queenslanders and New South Wales in the Senior Men's polocrosse yesterday afternoon, as the grounds took on a State-of-Origin theme.
It was the Blues that took out the win, leading by just a few goals for most of the game.
NSW Senior Men's manager Jim Colquhoun was pleased with the 18-14 result.
"It's fantastic -both sides played very well," Mr Colquhoun said.
State coach Laughlin Ross said he was glad they had got up over Queensland.
"We came to the Nationals knowing that Queensland would be the ones to beat," Mr Ross said. "It feels good to beat Queensland. They've got a habit of getting up on their own soil."
Both teams have another two games, today and tomorrow, which will determine who is into the finals.
Mr Ross said he was confident his boys could get into the finals, and was sure other NSW sides would do the same. "We'll make finals, I'm confident of that," Mr Ross said.
NSW senior men's will take on Victoria at 3pm today and then the Northern Territory tomorrow at 10am.
Queensland will try to squeeze its way into a final position as it goes head to head with Northern Territory at 8am today and Western Australia tomorrow at 10am.
