Cafe crew baffled by jar attack

THERE are better ways to spend Mother's Day than to get a call to say your shop has been vandalised.

That was the sorry news that woke Cafe 77's Tammy Robinson on Sunday morning.

"There had been three old pasta jars of oil thrown through the windows. The jars have been sent to the crime investigation unit to be finger printed," Tammy said.

"They (police) went back through CCTV footage from the town cameras we've got.

"They've got a person walking down to the cafe at 3.30am with a plastic bag carrying three jars. They've then stood kerbside and thrown the jars through the window.

"They've then run off past Pizza Hut and up past CRT," she said. Plenty of businesses might have customers or past employees with a grudge, but Tammy says they're stumped by why it has occured.

"We haven't had any fights with anyone or any disgruntled customers I guess. There's been no impact on our social media.

"We're as confused as everybody else.

"We've considered offering a reward for any information leading to an arrest but obviously they're still investigating.

"We just thought we should put out there how serious our towns and CBD is about our shops being vandalised.

"Police were quite worried it could have been an arson attack because it was oil."

The window has since been repaired and Tammy is upbeat.

"We've been very lucky in all of the years at the shop we've had no break ins or problems like that."
