Cabinet talks open way to join Asian bank

AUSTRALIA is expected to join the Chinese-led Asian Development Bank, after a meeting in Canberra discussed the options yesteday.

Cabinet met yesterday to discuss the issue, with expectations that it would accept getting involved, due to the United Kingdom and key western nations joining the bank.

The bank aims to fund and develop major infrastructure projects.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said a decision would be made this week once Cabinet discussed investing.
