Busload of weed was for 'personal use'

A MAN who had hoped to set himself up with a "few years" worth of marijuana had his plans destroyed by police.

Officers raided David Leslie Woods' Amiens property in May this year.

During the search, police discovered marijuana growing inside and outside a bus parked on the property, as well as more of the drug suspended for drying inside the bus.

Inside the home a small amount of the drug, a loaded rifle and a water pipe made out of a flavoured water bottle were found.

The total amount of marijuana seized on the day was 4.393kg.

Defence counsel for the 42-year-old told the court his client grew the drug for personal use and this was his first attempt.

Woods was sentenced to 14 months jail, wholly suspended.
