Toowoomba man gets bum wrap for hiding friend’s drug pipe

A TOOWOOMBA man found with a "crack" pipe between his buttocks told police he was holding onto the drug utensil for a friend.

During a pat-down search of Aaron Trent Bidgood at a Newtown residence on March 4, police found the drug pipe stuffed between the 20-year-old's buttocks, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

Bidgood told officers he was simply holding onto the pipe for a friend who had been using it.

Asked why he had it stuffed between his bottom cheeks, Bidgood said he hadn't wanted police to find it on him, police prosecutor Senior Constable Natalie Bugden told the court.

Bidgood pleaded guilty to possessing a utensil used for smoking a drug.

Magistrate Graham Lee noted by Bidgood's criminal history he had received terms of imprisonment in the past for drug-related offences.

Telling him he had been given ample opportunities by the court in the past, Mr Lee sentenced Bidgood to 12 months' jail but ordered he be released on immediate parole.
