Bulk billing for all Medicare services remains high
BULK billing rates for GP services reached a record high 82.4% in the March quarter.
Federal Health Minister Tanya Plibersek revealed the figures on Monday, which showed the overall bulk billing for all Medicare services remained high at 76.5%.
The March quarter figures showed bulk-billing for diagnostic imaging also reached a new record high of 74.9%; bulk billing of pathology services remains high at 87.6%.
Ms Plibersek claimed the figures were a result of the government's investment in, and reform of, the health system.
More than $4.3 billion in Medicare benefits was paid for 81 million Medicare services during the quarter.
