Bright new future for Elders
IF passers-by had been wandering what the grand new shiny building is illuminating from Granite Belt Dr, then you've got your answer.
After more than two decades in its Applethorpe location, Elders has packed up and shifted a little further to the north.
The leading Australian agribusiness has opened shop and is trading as usual.
Elders Stanthorpe manager and agronomist Andrew Hennoste said it was a welcome move for both the staff and customers.
"I've been with the company here for 18-plus years and the branch has always been out there at Applethorpe,” Mr Hennoste said.
"Over the years the business has outgrown the Applethorpe location.
"The reason for the relocation was to get a purpose-built shed to fit everything under the one roof rather than a bit of this and that, which is what it previously was.
"It complies with our business because Elders, as a member of Agsafe, is required to have improved safety management and co-regulations with government in place. So the building is now compliant for those regulations.”
The move has been an arduous process, but staff are loving the new facility.
"It doesn't happen overnight and a lot of boxes had to be ticked for us to get the move over the line,” MrHennoste said.
"The new facility is nice and bright and all the staff seem happy. It just gives us more room and better layout and safer access to the highway.
"We can buy better because we can order bigger volumes. We're close to our main part of the business, which is the apple market on the north side of town.
"I think we're well situated now to maintain our customer base and hopefully have some growth.
"Some of our suppliers who've come in are certainly very happy with the new facility.”
Elders is now located at 19 Granite Belt Dr and can be phoned on 4681 9500.
