Offenders still at large after car crashes in Bay

SUNDAY, 9.35am: Three people are still at large after a hit and run traffic crash on Friday night.

The Hervey Bay Criminal Investigation Bureau is conducting investigations to identify the offenders involved in the crash after they fled the scene.

The car lost control and hit a median strip before crashing into a nearby paddock on Friday night about 6.45pm on Boat Harbour Dr.

An officer was assaulted by one of the offenders as they absconded the vehicle.

Police patrols were conducted around nearby streets after the offenders fled.

SATURDAY, 3.25pm: Police have appealed for information after a hit and run traffic crash.

Initial investigations suggest that about 6.45pm, a grey Ford Falcon sedan with Western Australian number plates was travelling on Boat Harbour Dr towards Hunter St, Pialba when it lost control and hit a median strip.

The impact caused the vehicle to hit the gutter, flip and crash through a chained fence before landing on its roof in a nearby paddock.

A passing motorist stopped to help the male driver and female passenger out of the overturned vehicle.

Once out of the vehicle the driver and passenger fled the scene towards Taylor st.

Police have called for witnesses of the incident or the vehicle, or anyone with dash cam footage, to contact police.

SATURDAY, 10.30am: Three people are still on the run after a single-vehicle crash in Hervey Bay on Friday night.

The incident occurred on Boat Harbour Dr between Hunter and Taylor Sts.

The car, believed to be a Ford Falcon rolled, crashed through a fence and landed on its roof in the vacant land.

One offender is alleged to have assaulted an officer.

A fire crew and paramedics attended the scene, while police officers and detectives swarmed on the vehicle.

Police dogs were utilised in a search of nearby streets for the offenders, who remain at-large.

The vehicle was towed from the scene about 10pm.

EARLIER: THREE people are on the run after a single-vehicle crash near the Hervey Bay Bunnings Warehouse on Friday night.

Emergency services responded after 6.50pm when the car crashed on Boat Harbour Dr between Hunter and Taylor Sts.

One officer attempted to assist a passenger in the car and was allegedly assaulted.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and are conducting patrols near the area.
