New chief executive for Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Services

A NEW chief executive for the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Services has been announced.

Adjunct Associate Professor Naomi Dwyer has been appointed chief executive by Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Cameron Dick.

Prof Dwyer said it was an important career milestone.

"I feel very honoured be appointed to serve the community as the chief executive of the Sunshine Coast HHS at such an important time in their journey," Prof Dwyer said.

"My vision is to partner with the talented board and SCHHS team, our consumers, community and valued partners to deliver exceptional care and a reputation of international standing."

Prof Dwyer has broad experience in health services management including previous appointments as chief operating officer, executive director roles and since May 2014 has been the chief executive officer for Women's and Children's Health Network, a statewide service in South Australia that delivers a broad range of tertiary and community health services.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Board chair Dr Lorraine Ferguson was pleased to gain such a valued member.

"We are very fortunate to attract an experienced health chief executive such as Naomi to the Sunshine Coast," Dr Ferguson said.

"She is known as a highly motivated and dynamic leader and is widely regarded as a successful chief executive having successfully led change and improvement in very challenging times in health service delivery and as the chief operating officer during the planning and commissioning of the Gold Coast University Hospital.

"I look forward to joining with the staff to welcome Naomi to the SCHHS."
