WATCH: Man dies in Gladstone street after horrific crash

UPDATE 6.20AM: POLICE have released more details about a horror fatal crash in Sun Valley overnight. 

A Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed officers were called to Archer St at 9.10pm following reports a car had crashed into a pole. 

On arrival, officers found a 43-year-old man who had suffered critical injuries. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

UPDATE: 12.04am: 

FORENSIC crash investigators are combing the scene of a tragic crash on Archer St in Sun Valley.

An eerie quiet came over the street earlier this evening as police guarded a 20m radius around the crash until Rockhampton's Forensic Crash Unit arrived.

Police are yet to release the age of the man, but police quickly notified his family after the crash.

It's the second fatal crash in less than a week following the death of a woman in Gladstone's CBD last Friday.

A SPECIALIST Forensic Crash Unit has arrived on the scene of a horror crash on Archer St in Sun Valley.

Fragments of glass lay across the road.

The front driver's side of the car, a Mitsubishi, has been crushed.

Earlier, the man's family were notified.

CARNAGE has come to a little back street of Sun Valley.

A man has been killed after hitting a wooden power post on Archer St in Sun Valley.

The driver door and part of the car's front have been torn off.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said there were "conflicting" reports that the vehicle had hit a pole or rolled.

"That usually means 'it's combination of both," he said.

The man's family has been told the devastating news. 


Police on the scene have set up a 20m exclusion zone while Rockhampton's Forensic Crash Unit is en route to Gladstone to investigate.
