BREAKING: Woman in hospital after collision with power pole

A 76-year-old woman driver has been taken to Stanthorpe hospital in a stable condition after she crashed into a power pole at College Rd, Stanthorpe around 11.25am.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the woman was being treated for shock at the hospital but was not injured in the accident. 

Stanthorpe Police say the woman was driving out of Day St before accelerating into the power pole.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene where they disconnected the car battery and contained a small oil spill and have deemed the area as safe.

Ergon energy have also been notified of the damage.

Police are currently at the scene guiding traffic.
