Break and enter in weekend move

CHRIS Williams has a devastated grandson after a Mongoose BMX bike was stolen from a Canning St residence overnight Saturday.

Mr Williams said his 13-year-old grandson Dylan Williams received the bike as a Christmas present.

"He just loved it," Mr Williams said.

After living at Canning Downs near the railway line for the past six months, Mr Williams moved to Ipswich at the weekend so he would be closer to medical help for multiple conditions.

"No-one was home on Saturday night and we turned up in the morning to see stuff all over the floor," he said.

"They ransacked my wife's jewellery box and dressing table drawers."

The Mongoose bike was not the only thing taken.

A Repco mountain bike, two mobile phones, camera, rings, a wallet and two bottles of Jack Daniels were stolen as well.

One was 1957 vintage, to commemorate the year Mr Williams was born, and the other a 1904 vintage bottle given to him the year Dylan was born.

"We were going to open it on his 18th birthday," he said.

Mr Williams is calling on the public to provide information to help police locate the items.

"The house was locked and one of the bikes was inside the house," he said.

He said the area had been targeted recently.

"Cars have been ransacked. We had expensive sunglasses and cash taken from inside a car," Mr Williams said.
