Boxer fights on

WARWICK boxer Katrina Harvey is determined to win a re-match after losing an Australian title fight to Natalie Jenkinson on Saturday night at King's Theatre at the Warwick RSL Memorial Club.

Jenkinson has competed in the Pan Pacific Games and her experience shone through.

Warwick trainer Rodd Parry rated the fight a tough encounter.

"The two girls traded blows for the four one-and-a-half minute rounds," Rodd said.

"Katrina was a bit disappointed but is determined to work harder and win a re-match."

Fellow Warwick boxer Paul Parry lost on points to Adam Saunders, of Pacific, in a South East Queensland title in the 35kg division in the Global Boxing Association.

Jack Collins won a South East Queensland 80kg title with a unanimous points decision against Issac Kena.

Rodd said Collins was strong through the four two-minute round fight.

"Jack won every round with strong punching to the body and good combinations," Rodd said.

Shaun Parry beat Jack Grimes from Bribie Island in the 50kg division and Britnee Wallace finished with a draw in front of a capacity crowd of 350.
