Bombs away as ‘graffiti grannies’ add colour to city

AS CHRISTMAS fast approaches, the Fraser Coast is getting into the festive spirit with decorative knitted sleeves being added to Hervey Bay trees and bollards.

While the crafty culprits are usually dubbed the "graffiti grannies", men have also been involved with the Fraser Coast Yarn Bombing group to add some colour to the region.

Fraser Coast Yarn Bombing Group member Josie Street said this year's decorations came after a positive response in the inaugural yarn bomb in the region last year.

"We have not have one negative comment," she said.

"Some people say it's a real boost to the town and we love doing it."

About 10 hours was spent decorating at the weekend.
