Bloody syringe armed robber jailed

A MAN who threatened a 7-Eleven worker with a blood-filled syringe and bashed a Gatton doctor has been jailed.

Jason Wayne King, 30, was coming down from a prescription drug addiction when he tried to get a script for valium from a Gatton doctor on June 19 last year.

When the doctor refused, King threatened him, saying: "Just give me the scripts or I will punch you."

The doctor hit the distress alarm before King punched him twice in the face and fled.

Two days later about 2.30am, King stole a red Mitsubishi Lancer which he drove to the Ruthven St 7-Eleven and walked inside at 4.49am.

Standing near the coffee machine, King pulled a syringe filled with his blood and grabbed the worker with his left arm, threatening him with the needle and told him to open the cash draw.

He fled at 4.51am with $250 cash. He evaded police a number of times between Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley while driving the stolen car.

He was arrested in Grandchester that day.

King yesterday pleaded guilty in the Toowoomba District Court to the assault occasioning bodily harm and armed robbery, and several other offences.

He was sentenced to five years jail, with a parole eligibility date of July 1, 2019.
