Big plans for Ballandean
BALLANDEAN State School is very pleased to welcome Susan Evans to the permanent position of principal from 2018.
Ballandean P&C president Aaron Cox said the school community was delighted by the appointment of Susan to principal.
"We are pleased to have such a pro-active teacher for our children and an energetic leader for the school,” he said.
Mrs Evans acted in the principal position at Ballandean for six weeks recently while the current acting principal, Julie Barber was on leave. During this time Mrs Evans got to know all the students and many of the parents. She quickly integrated into the school community.
"I am very excited to be appointed the principal of Ballandean State School,” Mrs Evans said.
"I will ensure there is an unrelenting focus on achieving personal excellence for all students. I will bring my passion, enthusiasm, inspiration and enjoyment to ensure this school will be associated with the highest standards in all areas. I look forward to working cooperatively with parents, colleagues and students to make Ballandean a great place to learn and be part of.”
Mrs Evans currently holds the position of Regional Project Officer with the Regional Curriculum Pedagogy and Learning team - a role she had been in for almost 4 years. This role has involved working with about 34 schools, across Prep - Year 12, around the areas of curriculum implementation, different ways of teaching within a variety of school contexts and how to maximise learning opportunities for a diverse range of learners within our classrooms. Her experience will be invaluable to Ballandean teachers and students.
Regarded as a local, Mrs Evans has been living in the Granite Belt for the past 16 years and is an active community member. She is looking forward to becoming more involved in the Ballandean community, having already shown her true form in winning the open division of the Ballandean Billy Cart Bash!
Ballandean State School thank their current acting principal, Ms Barber for leading the school for the last 18 months and wish her all the best for her new position.
