Big guns in close range

JUST one point separated first and runner-up in the Warwick Clay Target Club's annual Champion of Champions trophy.

Michael and Carolyn Loy's Perpetual Trophy for the most coveted annual award in Warwick clay-target shooting was won by Ross Bartley with 1346 points ahead of Dan Johnson, the closest competition in the event in living memory.

The points were amassed over 12 months of competition, although neither shooter made it to every monthly event, nor did either of them know they were even close for the end-of-year trophy until the points were added on Sunday afternoon.

Points were taken for each discipline from every monthly competition since the beginning of the year.

Bartley has won the club's Champion of Champions previously and has a trophy in his display cabinet for winning it three times.
