RODEO: Michael Neylon is riding high in the saddle.

The Biddeston cowboy heads into the second round of the National Finals Rodeo competition atop the saddle ride leader board after victory in Chinchilla.

Competition has been back and forth all year with Jack Capewell however, Neylon remains focused on the big prize.

"I've never won a title before so hopefully the rest of the season goes to plan,” he said.

"I know I have the ability, but at the end of the day it's the luck of the draw.

"It very much depends on the stock that is drawn but I am confident.”

Neylon, in just his second year of competing, said he enjoyed the rodeo lifestyle.

"It really started with my mates getting me involved and my first time in the arena I got addicted,” Neylon said.

"I really enjoy getting to travel, getting the best out of your mates and watching the horses perform.”

The rodeo is sure to draw a big crowd with the round held alongside Cully Fest, the Outback and Aboriginal Folk Festival.

"Cully Fest is something different and it's going to be a real eye-opener for a lot of people,” Neylon said.

"Hopefully the two events go hand in hand and drag along a much larger crowd.”

Cully Fest will be held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds from November 17-19.
