Another title for Gander

STEVE Gander won a second successive A-grade Warwick Golf Club singles title yesterday to take his A-grade tally to five.

Gander won with scores of 72, 71, 74 and 74 for a total of 291.

Going into the Harvey Norman Warwick Electrical championship weekend, he was five shots in front of club captain Adrian Murphy.

Murphy hit 78 and 70 on the first weekend, 76 on Saturday and 74 yesterday to trail by seven shots.

Nathan Dionysius and Geoff Hinze were equal third on 304.

On Saturday, Murphy drew level with Gander on the fifth but had a poor second nine.

Murphy said Steve Gander won with consistent golf.

"The course was set up with a greater degree of difficulty compared to normal," he said.

In B-grade, Peter 'Charlie' Morrison won the title on 328 with Neil Carney winning C-grade on 357. Don Warrener won the veterans with 322.

In ladies, Sam Hinze won A-grade, Annice Payne was B-grade champion and Melanie McLennan won C-grade.
