Another NBN delay for Stanthorpe

WILL Stanthorpe ever be fully connect to the NBN?

An NBNco spokeswoman has confirmed residents may have to wait until 2020.

In response to a query from The Border Post in February 2018 NBNco said the town was due to be connected by September 2018.

Current information suggests the town will not be fully connected until as late as June 2019 with no guarantee this will occur.

While 2242 premises in the Stanthorpe area can connect to the nbn broadband access network over the Fixed Wireless technology, there are at least 2300 premises still waiting to be connected.

The NBNco spokeswoman said the nbn rollout was an unprecedented undertaking in terms of its size and scale.

"Unfortunately, there has been short delays due to unforeseen complexities uncovered during the build phase of the network,” she said.

"We're working hard to roll the network out as quickly as we can with as little disruption as possible, and we appreciate your patience while construction is underway.

"Our goal is to ensure all Australians, including those in the Stanthorpe region have access to fast broadband by 2020.”
