Ann’s fond memories of living in Stanthorpe

A CAREFREE life and incredible friendships are just two things Ann Yap holds dear from her time growing up in Stanthorpe.
Ann is the daughter of Dr Gregory Yap and Betty Yap. She lived in Stanthorpe from 1971 to 1980.
"My father was a doctor here and my mother worked at St Joseph's," Ann said.
"I also went to school at St Joseph's primary and high school."
Ann finished her senior schooling at a Toowoomba boarding school.
She then moved to Brisbane to study and work.
"I've always wanted to live in Sydney, so decided to make the move in 1991. I've been in Sydney ever since and consider it home," she said.
Ann now lives in Bronte, just 15 minutes from the Sydney CBD.
"I am fortunate enough to be able to walk five minutes to the beach," she said.
Ann has worked for Park Hyatt Sydney and Gucci.
"I had various roles in finance and human resources with Park Hyatt Sydney and was the HR manager for Gucci Australia and New Zealand," she said.
"I decided to take my 'gap' year in 2014 to recharge and think about where my next venture would be.
"At this point in time I'm grateful to be able to enjoy time with family and friends."
Ann considers herself blessed to have had the life she has so far.
"I have a fantastic network of family and friends who provide guidance, support and inspiration," she said.
"I have also been able to travel and visit some incredible cities in the world and meet some wonderful people.
"But most importantly there is still so much more to see and do."
Ann's father, Dr Yap, still lives in Stanthorpe.
"I love going back at least twice a year to see him, catching up with friends and to breathe the fresh air and see the stars so clear in the night sky," she said.
