All smiles for new Oztag season

Oztag: The new season for Oztag has kicked off but new registrations keep rolling in.

Stanthorpe Oztag President Peter Burnell said this year they had between 300 and 400 players ranging from under 6s to over 40s.

"The numbers are still coming in,” Burnell said.

"A little bit up since last year... we've got a lot of senior teams this year.”

After a fantastic first two rounds, Burnell said he was looking forward to a great season.

"The first round went really well, the under 6s were having so much fun.

"That went right through the afternoon until the final game at 8pm.

"They all came off the field with big smiles.”

Burnell hoped the big smiles would be the theme for the entire 10 week season.

"We just want people to play sport in Stanthorpe.”

Burnell encouraged any young players to nominate for the state cup on the back of Jake Burnell and Kye Watson's success this year.

Oztag are still taking registrations but they must be finalised by the beginning of next term. Visit stanthorpeoztag.com
