All clubs enjoy wins in a chilly round

FOOTBALL: Inter and Ballandean's two Fillies sides walked out of Saturday with confidence as both teams net five in their respective wins.

It was business as usual for a determined Inter side as they bested Carlton 5-3 in a catch up game while Ballandean recorded their first win with a 5-1 scoreline over United.

Shania Politch, Almari Botha and Shay-Lee Heard were stand outs in Inter's win. Tenterfield and Inter also managed to squeeze in several junior games, with under-6s to 11s enjoying some fixtures.

City continued their fine Junior Colts form with a 4-1 win over Carlton, United put six past Ballandean to get the points and Tenterfield overcome Inter.

In a nail biter, Carlton managed one of the upsets of the weekend as they defeated City 2-1 in Senior Colts. Bears player's Connor and Jacob Weston shone for their side. The game sat evenly perched until late on, when Jacob stepped up to hit one from outside the box and give his side the win.

Ladder leaders Ballandean cruised to victory in their Senior Colts tie against United. Goals to Beau Bannon, Nathan Fermor, Harry Whitaker and Daniel Grogan.

Tenterfield were resilient in their game against host side Inter, holding them to a 1-nil scoreline until the break. As fatigue set in, Inter were able to run away with the game in the second half.

The City Ladies got back to winning ways on Saturday, beating Carlton in the Merrin Dullahide Memorial fixture.

The tussle was end to end with both sides having scoring opportunities. City edged into a 1-nil lead but Carlton's midfield kept working overtime to turn things around. They nicked a second and began to dominate the remaining minutes of the game.

Inter's Ladies impressed on the weekend as they came away with a big win over Tenterfield. They dominated at the start and were quickly 2-0 up from relentless pressure. They didn't let up in the second half, bagging a further two goals to win comfortably.

Ballandean and United couldn't be split in yet another draw for the Redbacks. There was little between the duo in the opening hour of the game, until Abbie McPaul net for United to edge them ahead.

Youngster, Georgette Forbes, spoilt United's party when she grabbed a late equaliser.

City and Carlton faced off for the Frog Anderson Memorial Trophy in A-grade with the young City side dominating the opening half. The game turned on its head in the second half when Carlton had the lion-share of possession. However, all that amounted to nothing with neither side able to grab a goal in an entertaining goalless draw.

Inter never looked like losing in their contest with Tenterfield. Goals from Dylan Politch, Adam Bausch, Martin Dachs and Ashley Jones ensure they grabbed all three points in their 6-1 win.

United got off to the best possible start in their game against Ballandean, when Liam Hitchener scored in the opening minute. Hunter Murphy added a second, before Ballandean got one of back from a corner. United continued their rhythm in the second half with further goals to Hitchener, Murphy and one from Ben Manahan to secure the 5-1 win.
