Agents say they’re best placed to sell council land

A WARWICK real estate agent has called on the council to continue using local agents to sell property.

When the council first tried to sell the Albion/ Fitzroy St block last year, it was put out to tender.

That failed to sell the land and the council enlisted the help of several Warwick real estates.

Trevor Devine from Property Specialists said the council wasn't a qualified real estate business, and should continue to seek the help of property professionals in disposing of land.

"They don't have to give it to just one agent," he said.

"They can be sensible and offer it to all the agents."

Instead of opting for a 90-day listing, Mr Devine said, the council did 30-day listings with different agents.

"They could have it as an open listing or different agents could take turns," he said.

"Real estate agents would be able to ensure the council gets the right amount of money for the land."
