Warwick plays host to nationals

TODAY is the day Morgan Park's gates officially open for the Barastoc Polocrosse National Championships.

The Rose City will welcome the country's most elite polocrosse players and their finest equine companions to the region for the event.

Warwick Polocrosse Club member Warwick Fraser said this year was extra special.

"This first week, there will be a lot of catch-ups and drinks and stories shared," Mr Fraser said.

"There will be a few people peeking through the trees checking out other teams' strategies but it's all a lot of fun.

"Come next Monday, it's down to business. That's when the game faces come on."

As players file through the gates, he said those who had travelled across the country would be able to catch their breath.

"They'll be relieved to be here; some of them have had a pretty epic trip," he said.
