Man accused of attempted murder of police to remain jailed

AN Ipswich man who is accused of attempting to murder a police officer will remain behind bars while the case against him is finalised.

Darryl Reg Albert Hayes, 31, had his matter mentioned briefly on Monday in the Brisbane Magistrates Court where his defence representative asked for the full brief of evidence to be provided.

He was not present for the hearing.

Hayes is facing several charges, including attempted murder and acts intended to cause bodily harm, stemming from an incident at Holland Park on July 14 where it is alleged he reversed his 4WD towards a police officer.

The officer, who was attempting to intercept the vehicle at the time, fired at least six shots at the oncoming Mitsubishi Pajero.

Hayes is also facing unrelated charges of robbery, stealing and driving offences.

Magistrate Linda Bradford-Morgan ordered the brief of evidence be provided before October 13.

She listed the matter for mention on October 27. - APN Newsdesk.
