CQ mining company says 100 jobs to go by end of September
GLENCORE has confirmed further cutbacks at its Newlands open cut mining operation in Central Queensland, a move that will result in a reduction of about 100 employees by the end of September.
In a statement today, the company said: "The decision has been taken as a result of the ongoing difficult market conditions. Newlands' annual coal production for 2014 will be reduced as a result of this.
"The mining complex will continue to support a workforce of more than 650 after the changes are implemented,'' the statement said.
