Child killed as car ploughs into spectators at WA rally
A YOUNG boy was killed and two people seriously injured when a rally car ploughed into a group of spectators at a Western Australian rally on the weekend.
The six-year-old boy was killed at the scene, while a eight-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy were injured and flown to a Perth hospital on Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened about 280km south of Perth, between Nannup and Manjimup, during a rally event in the area.
Motoring body the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport released a statement expressing its condolences for those affected.
WA Police and the state's major crash squad were still investigating the matter on Sunday.
