RUMOURS that snow has been falling in the Eukey highlands Tuesday afternoon have been confirmed with a photo and video from Eukey Highland Cheese cheese maker Russell Wantling.

What started out as light rain gradually progressed to sleet and then snow.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jonty Hall said we could expect the snow to hang around for another hour or two.

"It will probably be pretty short lived and it looks like the temperature will warm up slightly over night and into tomorrow," he said.

Mr Hall added the maximum temperature recorded at Applethorpe today was 8.4 degrees and much of the day stayed between 6-7 degrees.

Mr Wantling captured these images on his iPhone earlier this afternoon.

The photo was taken between 2.30-3pm and the video was filmed between 3-3.30pm.
