THE Stanthorpe Cook Off event hosted by the Queensland College of Wine Tourism was without a doubt a recipe for success.

Held on Monday, October 10, the event allowed participants to learn about healthy cooking and meal planning.

Chef Drew Simpson provided an educational and engaging cooking presentation including how to separate and cook with different chicken cuts.

Participants of the class were delighted with the opportunity to watch chef Drew cook and then sample some exciting recipes.

Local dietitian and nutritionist Charlotte Bush was also present, providing nutrition advice.

There was also an opportunity for attendees to ask questions about healthy eating and meal planning.

"This event was a great opportunity to teach people about good nutrition in a fun and interactive way,” Ms Bush said.

"With so much noise in the nutrition field is it really important to come back to the basics of cooking and eating well.

The participants walked away with some great information.”

The event was run as part of the Southern Downs Regional Council's Get Out, Get Active program and was made possible by the generosity of the QCWT with the support of CDS and Total Balance Health and Fitness.

QCWT campus manager Chrissy Mattiazzi said they were happy they were able to be a part of the event.

"The QCWT was pleased to be involved with such a great event,” she said.

"Chef Drew is very knowledgable and provides great cooking demos.”

Another event will be held at QCWT on Friday, November 11 from 6.30pm.

For more information on the second event or to reserve a spot, call QCWT on 46855050.
